Kinshasa, September 15th, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister in charge of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Cathérine Kathungu Furaha, has proposed, to the Congolese in general and to artists and creators in particular, the liberalization of the copyright sector, as a solution to promote the development of this sector, in his message, on the occasion of the African Day of Copyright and Collective Management, celebrated on September 14th of each year.
The minister reassured all Congolese artists that her ministry is determined to defend copyright through the liberalization of this sector and by supporting creators. « I inform the African and Congolese public opinion that the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage is working on a multisectoral national program of structural and legal reform with a view to liberalizing the collection sector for the management of copyright and rights. neighbors,”she said.
She also promised to initiate, to this end, a process of design and study of texts in accordance with the national legal instruments that the DRC has ratified, artists being cultural and economic operators dedicated to dignity and protection of their copyright and neighboring rights. ACP/
