Five companies vying to produce and issue biometric driver’s licenses with chip

Kinshasa, June 13th, 2021 (CPA).– The 5 (five) companies competing to produce and issue secure biometric driving licenses with chip presented each Saturday, their production project through specifications, to the Minister of Transport, communication routes and opening up (Transvcomd), Chérubin Okende Senga, during a working session, indicates a document from the ministry received Sunday at the CPA.

These are the companies Aufs DRC, Syntell DRC, Esnafs Sarry, solution for Africas and Oto Juste. According to the source, the contract to be signed with the company that will win the contract comes 7 (seven) years after no biometric driving license was issued to the Congolese.

This contract consists of producing more than 5,000,000 (five million) driving licenses and building 20 (twenty) production sites for the benefit of the Nation Commission for the issuance of driving licenses (CONADEP), indicates the source.

These sites, according to the terms of the contract to be concluded, must be equipped with equipment and the said company is obliged to set up a secure system in the process of managing the issuance of driving licenses. The company that meets these conditions will sign a ten-year contract with the government.

The same source indicates that the company which will win the market will work very diligently to present a “New-look” permit to be issued as soon as possible.

According to Minister Chérubin Okende, this process falls within the framework of the requirements of the law on public procurement in the DRC. For him this process will take place in transparency and fairness as required by the law on public procurement. ACP/
