Kinshasa, April 13th, 2021 (CPA) – The governor of Kinshasa city, Gentiny Ngobila, carried out, on Saturday, an inspection visit of various road construction sites across Kinshasa city, starting with the construction site on Avenue Kikwit under construction and modernization by SAFRIMEX company.

Gentiny Ngobila walked from the 2nd entrance of Kinshasa international fair (FIKIN), to Yolo river bridge. According to the explanations provided to him by the site manager, the asphalting of “Fikin-Yolo bridge” section begins this week, and the bridge will be thrown from next month on Yolo river.

Speaking to the press, the urban authority said it was satisfied with the progress of the work on this road which, according to it, is progressing in leaps and bounds as is the case on Elengesa road. It should be noted that Kikwit Avenue, which benefits from paving for the very first time in the history of Kinshasa city, will serve the municipalities of Ngaba, Limete, Lemba, Kalamu, Makala and Selembao. It will also boost economic exchanges between these different municipalities.

After Kikwit Avenue, the city governor went to Bongolo bridge which is in a very advanced state of disrepair. There, he officially opened a footbridge over Kalamu River to allow pedestrians and small cars to pass, pending construction of the bridge and the roadway which begins this week.

Governor Ngobila expressed his determination to offer the Kinoises and Kinois new roads serving as secondary roads, in order to relieve traffic in the capital. According to him, his action falls within the vision of the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who wants the social well-being of the population to be effective.

Continuation of public lighting work

In addition, Gentiny Ngobila affirmed, during this inspection visit, the continuation of the installation of Led bulbs on the main arteries of Kinshasa city.

This work, which is being carried out by SNEL, concerns this time By-pass, Kasa-Vubu, Huileries, Route of Matadi avenues, Sefu avenue in Lemba, as well as Nguma avenue which leads to Kintambo Magasin roundabout.

Finally, the urban authority rounded off its tour with a visit to the machines stored in the facilities of the Office of Roads and Drainage (OVD), a donation from the Japanese Republic to Kinshasa city, as part of the Japanese Cooperation in Congo (JICA). The acquisition of this large batch of equipment made up of new machinery could give a boost to the sanitation and rehabilitation works of the urban road network. ACP /
