Kinshasa, May 12th 2021 (CPA).– The Minister in charge of Posts, Telecommunications and New Information and Communication Technologies, Augustin Kibassa Maliba launched on Wednesday in Kinshasa, a call for collaboration with the general directors of the Congolese Post and Telecommunications Company (SCPT) and the Congolese fiber optic company (SOCOF), in order to develop the Telecom sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The exchange of views revolved around the modalities of collaboration. The general director of SOCOF, Hubert Mamba, while specifying that SCPT has been in the telecommunications sector for years, and having an optical fiber which is operational and that SOCOF which has just started recently in the sector with its optical fiber financed by the World Bank (WB), frank collaboration is necessary.
Didier Musete of SCPT noted that it is important to advance the telecommunications sector according to the vision of the President of the Republic Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in the sense of digitizing and digitizing the entire sector in DRC.
« I think the discussions were good and we wanted this kind of sharing around the responsible minister to be held regularly in order to advance the subject which concerns digital infrastructures in our country ». In addition, he added, the President of the Republic wants the country to be as digital as possible. As a reminder, the meeting with the Ministry in charge of PT-NTIC comes after that of the past week during which the general director of SCPT presented to Minister Kibassa Maliba the state locations and the short and medium term action plan of his company.
