FECOFA: Former SGA denounces bad intentions of normalisation committee

Kinshasa, May 10th, 2023 (CPA) – The former deputy secretary general of the Congolese Federation of Association Football (FECOFA), Patrice-Rainier Mangenda denounced what he called the bad intentions of the normalization committee set up a few days ago, in a letter addressed to the secretary general of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Mrs. Fatma Samoura, a copy of which was received on Tuesday by CPA.

« I would like to inform you of the confused situation that currently prevails at FECOFA. Indeed, a normalization committee has been set up with precise and stipulated missions. It is with exasperation that I am writing to you in view of the deterioration of the working environment. In view of the scene set: purchase of office equipment, dismissal of general secretaries, launching of works at the Kurara Mpova Technical Centre not with development funds but with media funds generated by the Leopards, which according to a decision of the executive committee, these funds were largely to be used for the age group teams that are struggling to get state funding, we believe that CONOR has resolved to be voluntarily out of mission and therefore extend the lease to FECOFA, » wrote Patrice-Rainier Mangenda.

The former deputy secretary general of FECOFA believes that it was good then that the people who had the mission to accompany the executive committee in the reform do not appear in the normalization committee because they failed together. And he wondered: what is behind the dismissal of the entire general secretariat when the process is a few months away from elections at all levels. For Patrice-Rainier Mangenda, wanting to leave the general secretariat means wanting to avoid any evaluation of everything that led to the situation at FECOFA today.

« Beyond the paperwork, Madame Secretary General, the management of finances is opaque. Mr. Sambi has full powers over the finances without any checks and balances. ASBLs in the DRC are not managed like that. Bank transfers and leveling are made without informing the Secretary General, who is statutorily responsible for FECOFA’s accounts. It is clear that the decision of the FIFA Council Bureau on the normalization of FECOFA protects the specific development funds, but it should be noted that the funds generated by the media rights and others are within the reach of Mr. Sambi and without control, he uses them as he wishes with unjustified work An audit of almost two years of management is necessary, » concluded Patrice-Rainier Mangenda.
