Activist urges Congolese to write book on Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo’s journey

Kinshasa, July 17th, 2021 (CPA).- Mrs. Carine Kanku, social activist and president of the dynamic of women candidates of the DRC, urged the Congolese to write a book which takes up the course of the cardinal emeritus, Bishop Laurent Monsengwo considered as  » a tireless defender of democracy and human rights in the country”, during a press briefing held Thursday in Kinshasa.

According to Ms. Kanku, “If there is a book currently being written on the DRC, an entire chapter should be dedicated to Bishop Monsengwo Pasinya. He was a leader for the DRC, for Africa and the world. He fought in his own way to see the rule of law in the DRC. Since the sovereign national conference, until its transition, it crossed several phases of the history of the country”.

She recalled all the vicissitudes that surrounded the holding of the Sovereign National Conference (CNS), all the attempts by the power in place to block the work and especially the repeated interventions of the man of God so that this forum is held at all price.

Also on this journey, the activist reconsidered the positions of the late cardinal, who notably refuted the 2011 elections before pressing for the organization of the poll in 2018.

She added that alongside these protests, Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya, had also expressed doubts about the credibility of these elections. « The results do not conform to the truth or to justice. » The phrase « Let the ropy give off » will follow.

“As for the country’s democratization process, he will be one of its great architects. I honor the memory of a model, a master, a Christian who fought for the Congolese people to truly enjoy the divine promises and see the light in everyday life, «she adds.

To perpetuate its struggle, it proposes to « establish a rule of law and respect the rights of citizens and peoples, to establish distributive justice as well as to respect the common goods. ACP/
