Lualaba: government pledges to fight against economic exploitation of children

Kolwezi, June 19th, 2021 (CPA).- Lualaba government commissioner in charge of gender, family and child Nathalie Ngandu recently announced that the government has made a commitment to fight against the exploitation of children for economic needs.

She made this known during a workshop recently organized on the establishment of provincial coordination mechanisms in Kolwezi, the capital of the said province.

During the work of this workshop, several recommendations were made by the participants who expressed the wish to do everything possible to fight against the worst forms of child labor.

« This is the first time that this has been organized since the DRC had ratified article 182 of the ILO. Here in the province of Lualaba, the reflection was around the coordination and adaptation of the national law, c ‘that is to say the interministerial decree on the fight against the worst forms of child labor. We must have here in the provinces an interministerial committee on this fight « , said Marie Louise Musenga Mafo, provincial director of the employment.

To achieve this, the government and its partners intend to apply all the labor regulations in force.

« The problem of child labor concerns all sectors as well as all donors, the government as well as all NGOs, we must come together to eradicate by 2025, that he has zero children who are in the worst forms of work « , she concluded.

As a reminder, this workshop was held on the sidelines of the International Day for the Elimination of Child Labor and the Day of the African Child celebrated recently. ACP/
