Organization of a thanksgiving mass for the victims of Goma

Kinshasa, June 12th, 2021 (CPA) .- Youth structures grouped together in the “SOS Goma” commission including the National Youth Forum (FNJ) and the National Youth Council (CNJ) recently organized in the “Sacré Coeur” parish », In the commune of Gombe, a thanksgiving mass in favor of the victims of the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo in the province of North Kivu in order to implore divine grace on the victims of this natural disaster. At the end of this Eucharistic celebration, officiated by Monsignor Willy Ngumbi, Bishop of Goma, the Minister in charge of Youth and Initiation to Citizenship Yves Bunkulu urged the Congolese to pray for the population of Goma affirming that this mass is part of the framework of the actions of the “SOS Goma” Commission which aims to support disaster victims. For the minister, beyond the contributions to be made to the brothers and sisters of Goma, it is rather through prayers that we can support them because God who is above all is capable of putting an end to all difficulties. from Goma. The Mass, he declared, is the continuity of the actions planned by the “SOS Goma” Youth Commission. For his part, the deputy coordinator of this commission in charge of finances and president of the FNJ Patrick Katengo, while affirming that it was not a question of the mobilization of resources and funds but rather of a day of prayer to ensure the compatriots that we are at heart with them, reported that during this mass, 520 US dollars and more than 300,000 Congolese francs were collected. In addition, he said, the harvest of the day, what was mobilized previously and what the compatriots from outside have just brought, the commission « SOS Goma » can make available 30,000 US dollars that can allow it. to go to the bedside of the victims of the natural disaster.
