Appearance at the Military Court of 5 senior FARDC officers cited in several cases in Ituri

Bunia, July 24th, 2021 (CPA).- Five (5) senior FARDC officers including a lieutenant colonel and four (4) majors who have committed offenses in Ituri, among others, forgery and use of forgery and the embezzlement of RCA from soldiers appeared before the military court in Ituri province, the CPA found on Friday.

For the first case opposing the senior military auditor against Lieutenant Colonel Pychen Bakwafulu, the majors Jean-Claude Katika and Puis Kasongo prosecuted for « forgery and use of forgery and misappropriation of military RCA », after having proceeded to the identification of warned, the Military Court read the facts for which they are accused.

Lt Colonel Pychen Bakwafulu and Major Jean-Claude Katika are suspected; for having altered the list of military personnel on the breakdown of funds for the month of May 2021 by presenting the strength of 13,578 soldiers on the payroll of the Ministry of National Defense instead of a staff of 10,496 soldiers , diverted arms, ammunition, vehicles and other effects, diverted the CAR intended for 693 soldiers of the 32nd military region engaged in operations.

As for Major Puis Kasongo S1 regiment 6401 of his state on May 19, 2021 to have « altered the truth about the declaration on honor by taking back the false numbers » of 3,401 regiment, diverted on May 21, 2021 the RCA of 122 soldiers in operation in the territory of Djugu.

After closing the debate, the first president of the Military Court, Lieutenent Colonel Kelly Dienga Akelele postponed the case until next Friday.

Regarding the second cause, the Court returned it to the next hearing after having questioned Major Simon Kangela, who was prosecuted by the public prosecutor for, among other things, violation of instructions and contempt of his superior.

The third case opposing the senior military auditor to Major Bahati Amisi prosecuted for violation of instructions after his confrontation with an informant on the circumstances of the deployment of four (4) soldiers on the express order of the defendant at the Dele checkpoint.

After questions from members of the composition as well as the defense, the court postponed the case until next Friday.

A warrant officer sentenced to 15 SPP for rape of a child

During the same hearing, the Military Court renewed the work of the first judge, by condemning Sergeant Didier Ngamukumu to fifteen (15) years of main penal servitude.

The judgment of the Court specifies that the defendant sentenced to the same sentence in the first degree, raped a ten (10) year old child on two occasions, that is to say on June 1st and 13th, 2017 in a village of the chiefdom of Babila Babombi , Mambasa territory. ACP/Fng/nig
