« The journalist must give his information well because a job well done contributes to the influence of the country and makes it possible to assert the accredited as well as the agency », underlined Mrs. the PCA in an address to the journalists, during a meeting that he chaired in his office.

“You shouldn’t be self-conscious. When you stand out in your job, you will be sought out. Go and seek to meet the minister and all sources of information on behalf of the CPA, « she said, before dwelling on the role of a news agency in a country.

She urged journalists to master their areas of accreditation and to cover not only activities in the political cabinet but also in the departments under supervision.

“A reporter goes looking for information and doesn’t just wait to be invited or sent to him through a WhatsApp group. He is called upon to seek information in the services linked to his sector, ”added the PCA of the CPA, while inviting them to fight to deserve their place, while respecting the rules of ethics and professional conduct. .

« Because it is a challenge which also makes it possible to promote the CPA », she concluded.

The CPA was created in 1960, by a decree of August 12th from the first Prime Minister Patrice Emery Lumumba, taking over the activities and facilities of the Belgian colonial press agency, the Belga agency, following the independence of the Congo.

After “Zairianization”, in 1971, this public media became the Zairian Press Agency (AZAP) and again became the Congolese Press Agency (CPA) with the advent of AFDL.

Like all news agencies, it is an essential source of topical news disseminated by print and broadcast media, and the vast majority of information provided by television, radio, newspapers and websites comes from the CPA. It provides users with accurate, impartial and trustworthy information on a regular and uninterrupted basis.

It should be recalled that the Minister of Communication and the Media, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, said during his first visit to the CPA on June 1st, 2021, that the modernization of the public media, including the ‘CPA is his hobbyhorse. ACP/Fng/nig
