Kinshasa, March 30th, 2021 (CPA) – The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is on the list of 40 beneficiary countries of 12 billion US dollars mobilized by the World Bank to help developing countries obtain vaccines, tests and anti-Covid treatments, says a statement from the World Bank.
According to the source, this fund should also help strengthen the health systems of these countries in order to ensure the vaccination of the targeted people as a priority. In the short term, these programs dedicated to vaccination will cover more than 40 countries, for a budget of 3 billion dollars (out of the 12 billion made available).
Readiness assessment findings will help refine projects and help governments and healthcare professionals better understand and manage the complexities of a large-scale adult immunization campaign within a limited period of time.
According to the press release, ensuring equitable, broad and rapid access to Covid-19 vaccines, especially in poor countries, is essential to save lives and strengthen the global economic recovery.
« The pandemic must be brought under control in all countries so that everyone is safe from a resurgence of the virus and able to focus on ways to weather the worst global economic recession in 80 years, » the statement said. ACP /
