Kinshasa, August 24th, 2021 (CPA) .- The acting Permanent Secretary of the Unified Lumbist Party (PALU), Godefroid Mayobo, declared on Sunday at the opening of the 2nd congress of this party that its refoundation is at the center of the seven days organized with the aim of recreating its image.
Godefroid Mayobo said that his party has survived since 1964, the date of its creation, numerous attacks aimed at his disappearance, thanks to the clairvoyance, wisdom and resilience of his secretary general and party leader, the late Patriarche Antoine Gizenga.
To this end, the absolute need to resist attacks and to ward off external destabilization prevented the « PALU » from organizing itself in serenity and cohesion, a pledge of good success, the disappearance of Secretary General Antoine Gizenga, having placed, in addition, the party in the obligation to organize a congress to endow it with legitimate leaders and to revisit its legal instruments, in order to make it effective.
« Thus, after the disappearance of our permanent secretary and spokesperson Lugi Gizenga, the party mobilized to restore and revitalize its capacities, to allow it to hold a congress, and this in accordance with the party’s texts » , he continued.
« Despite innumerable obstacles standing in its way, Palu » has succeeded on this historic day in achieving this political evidence, namely the holding of this second congress which coincides with the 57th anniversary of this political formation.
« This congress is not intended to challenge someone, but rather to bring together the party’s militants, with a view to its overhaul and its elevation, resolutely turned towards the future, while remaining in the line of Lumumbist nationalism », He underlined.
In addition, Godefroid Mayobo, on behalf of the « PALU », paid tribute to the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for his support and encouragement for the holding of this congress, which will lead to resolutions beneficial to the future of the party. ACP/
