ULK academic staff called upon to support the new vision of the incoming management committee

Kinshasa, May 31st, 2021 (CPA).- The president of the board of directors of the Free University of Kinshasa (ULK), Médard Bompoko Bokete, invited Saturday, in Kinshasa, the academic staff of this alma mater to accompany the new management committee headed by Prof. Jean-Paul Kumbu ki Ngimbi and Jean-Paul Segihobe Bigira respectively rector and academic secretary general in their vision, during a presentation ceremony in the grounds of this private university in Limete.

« The time has now come to get down to business and not to distraction, » said Patriarch Medard Bompoko Bokete, while urging academic staff to support this new team made up of eminent professors from renowned universities so that ‘it can achieve its mission given that the ULK is the first accredited secular private university in the DRC.

« Founded in 1988, the ULK must be a model in the country through its quality training and for having produced many competent executives working in the country’s institutions, » he stressed.

The ULK PCA, who also praised the work done by the members of the former management committee, namely: Pr. Bola Ntotel and Bompaka respectively rector and academic secretary of the ULK, asked the happy promoted to work more for the revitalization and progress of the ULK.

The new rector of the ULK, Prof. Kumbu, for his part, thanked the members of the organizing power of this alma mater for the choice to carry in their person, indicating that they will spare no effort to set up another mode. of management consisting in the moral discussion with the academic and scientific staff, and the students for its successful outcome.

He also added that his mandate will be articulated in the short / term by environmental health in order to clean the working environment of this university establishment.

In the medium term, he promised to fight against all kinds of anti-values ​​which plague all university circles in accordance with the instructions of the supervisory ministry.

It will be a question of capacity building in a sealed partnership with the Russian Federation by training their own assistants with scholarships from that country to defend doctoral theses in order to provide the ULK with its own professors.

Graduated in economic and social law from UNIKIN in 1989, Prof. Kumbu holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Hamburg in Germany in 1998, he holds a master’s degree in civil law and in labor law from the same university in 1994.

Expert consultant and trainer at UNDP in the areas of institutional capacity building of political and parliamentary parties, and provincial in good governance and conflict prevention.

The academic secretary general, Prof. Jean-Paul Segihobe Bigira, after his law degree at the University of Kinshasa, he will be appointed advisor to the Presidency of the Republic in 2003-2005 before continuing his studies at the University of Ghent. in Belgium in 2009 where he will defend his doctoral thesis in environmental law. he also has a master’s degree in legal theory obtained in Brussels in 2007.

Back home, Prof. Jean-Paul Segihobe was hired as a professor at the law faculty of UNIKIN, then rector of the University of Goma. He is now the national deputy for Masisi territory in North Kivu province. He is counsel for the DRC at the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands. He is also a consultant in international criminal justice and a member of the Standing Committee on the Reform of Congolese Law in 2009.

Previously, a thanksgiving mass had been celebrated in memory of deceased ULK officers and executives.

Patriarch Medard Bompoko Bokete is one of the 5 co-founders of the ULK.
