Kinshasa, June 15th, 2021 (CPA) – The Senate voted, on Monday at the People’s Palace, an enabling bill, by 90 senators who took part in the vote, one against and 3 abstentions, during a plenary session under the leadership of the president of the Upper House of parliament, Prof. Modeste Bahati Lukwebo.
The text will be sent to the National Assembly for examination. Under the terms of this law, the government is empowered to take, by ordinance-laws, the measures which are normally the domain of the law, in accordance with the Constitution. Are concerned by this law, measures such as the extension of the state of emergency and the state of siege, the modalities of application of the state of emergency and the state of siege, digital regulation, increase and rationalization of domestic revenues.
Extended for a further 15 days, the state of siege requires time to allow FARDC and the National Police to complete the execution of the government plan for the final restoration of peace in Nord Kivu and Ituri. The closure of this ordinary session of Parliament is scheduled for June 15th, 2021.
