Deployment of civil protection units in Bunia to enforce barrier measures

Bunia, July 17th, 2021 (CPA).- The urban commander of the Congolese National Police (PNC) / Bunia, Deputy Superior Commissioner Gérard Abeli ​​Mwangu announced the deployment of civil protection units supported by those of the rapid intervention in Bunia to apply the barrier measures relating to the response against COVID-19 taken by the Head of State and recalled by the provincial governor, Lt General Johnny Luboya N’kashama.

These units, he said, have the specific mission of enforcing the compulsory wearing of masks in the public sector to prevent the spread of this disease in the capital of Ituri.

Deputy Superior Commissioner Gérard Abeli ​​hinted that even the units of the road traffic police (PCR) also have the task of enforcing the law by forcing carriers and their passengers to wear masks on public roads.

He indicated that even at the level of the central market of Bunia, the police force is reinforced to force all the traders and those who frequent this place of trade to wear the mufflers obligatorily adding that all recalcitrant arrested are summoned to pay transactional fines.

At the level of cemeteries, said Deputy Superior Commissioner Gérard Abeli, a police team is available to escort family members of the deceased from the morgue to the cemetery. ACP/
