429 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded during the single day of Thursday in the DRC

Kinshasa, June 12th, 2021 (CPA).– Four hundred and twenty-nine (429) new confirmed cases of Covid-19 were recorded during the single day of Thursday in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), out of 2,532 samples tested, including 375 cases in Kinshasa, 29 in Kongo Central, 12 in Kasai, 10 in North Kivu and 3 in Haut-Katanga, reports the daily bulletin of the Technical Secretariat of the multisectoral committee for the response to Covid-19 on the epidemiological situation published on Friday

Six new deaths were recorded on the same day among the confirmed cases, including five deaths occurring in Covid treatment centers (CTCo) in Kinshasa and one community death in Haut-Uélé. In addition, there were three (3) new healings in the Covid treatment centers (CTCo) and among the patients followed at home in Kinshasa.

Since the declaration of the epidemic on March 10, 2020, the cumulative number of cases is 34,695, including 34,694 laboratory-confirmed cases and 1 probable case. In total, there were 831 deaths and 27,823 people cured.

The same bulletin informs that since the start of vaccination in the DRC, on April 19, 2021, with the AstraZeneca vaccine, 29,262 people have been vaccinated in 7 provinces until June 7, 2021. The number of people vaccinated by province is from the as follows: 15,404 in Kinshasa, 5,361 in Haut-Katanga, 2,711 in North Kivu, 2,257 in Kongo Central, 2,029 in Lualaba, 1,163 in South Kivu and 337 in Haut-Uélé. New vaccination sites are being rolled out. In total, 256 sites are operational out of the 498 planned.

The Covid-19 test is free in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, except for travelers who will have to pay US $ 30.

Twenty-three of the twenty-six provinces in the DRC are affected by this epidemic. These are the provinces of Kinshasa (24,676 cases), North Kivu (2,980 cases), Haut-Katanga (2,072 cases), Kongo Central (1,806 cases), South Kivu (944 cases), Lualaba (920 cases), Tshopo (404 cases), Ituri (320 cases), Haut-Uélé (218 cases), Equateur (84 cases), Haut-Lomami (49 cases), Nord-Ubangi (44 cases), Maniema (42 cases), Kasaï (31 cases), Kasaï Central (30 cases), Kasaï Oriental (24 cases), Tanganyika (20 cases), Kwilu (9 cases ), Sud-Ubangi (7 cases), Bas-Uélé (6 cases), Kwango (5 cases), Tshuapa (3 cases) and Mai-Ndombe (2 cases).
