Kinshasa, September 28th, 2021 (CPA).- A donation of 400,000 doses of Chinese Sinovac-coronavac vaccines and 403,200 pieces of syringes will soon arrive in Kinshasa, in order to support the Congolese government in its efforts to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, indicates the Chinese embassy in DRC in a statement received on Monday in Kinshasa. According to the source, the Chinese government has covered all international transportation costs for these vaccine doses, which are scheduled to be received on Sept. 29th at Ndjili international airport. The Chinese Embassy in Kinshasa is working closely with the Ministry in charge of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention, Jean-Jacques Mbugani, to ensure good reception of these vaccines. “Cooperation in health and the fight against the epidemic is one of the pillars of the Sino-Congolese strategic partnership. China and DRC have a long tradition of mutual aid which translates into supporting the Congolese government in the fight against the pandemic and promoting economic development for the well-being of the population« , the source said.
As a larger developing country, China stands in solidarity with other countries.
The source also indicates that, China remains in solidarity with other countries as a larger developing country. “The Chinese government is committed to making its vaccines global public goods and has already supplied a large quantity of the vaccines to more than 100 countries and will add an additional 100 million doses of vaccine as direct assistance to developing countries to help the construction of a global collective immunity”, concluded the press release.
