Kinshasa, June 19th, 2021 (CPA).– Lomami province has become the twenty-fourth province in the DRC affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, registering two new confirmed cases of this disease, including one death, reports the bulletin daily from the technical secretariat of the national multisectoral response committee to Covid-19 reached the CPA on Friday.
Now, there are only two (2) provinces of the DRC, out of the twenty-six (26) in the country, which have not recorded any cases of Covid-19. These are the provinces of Mongala and Sankuru.
The twenty-four (24) provinces of the DRC affected by the epidemic are Kinshasa (26,659 cases), North Kivu (3,043 cases), Haut-Katanga (2,109 cases), Kongo Central (1,899 cases), South Kivu (947 cases), Lualaba (937 cases), Tshopo (426 cases), Ituri (328 cases), Haut-Uélé (229 cases), Ecuador (84 cases), North Ubangi (65 cases), Haut-Lomami (49 cases), Maniema (42 cases), Kasaï (31 cases), Kasaï Central (30 cases), Kasaï Oriental (24 cases), Tanganyika (20 cases ), Kwilu (9 cases), Sud-Ubangi (7 cases), Bas-Uélé (7 cases), Kwango (5 cases), Tshuapa (3 cases), Mai-Ndombe (2 cases) and the Lomami (2 cases).
377 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 notified during the single day of Thursday in the DRC
The same source indicates that three hundred and seventy-seven (377) new confirmed cases of Covid-19 were notified during the single day of Thursday in the DRC, out of 1,200 samples tested, including 334 in Kinshasa, 22 in Kongo Central , 10 in North Kivu, 5 in Haut-Katanga, 4 in North-Ubangi and 2 in Kasaï.
No new deaths have been recorded among the confirmed cases. In addition, on the same Thursday, June 17, 2021, there were seventeen (17) new healings in Covid treatment centers (CTCo) and among patients followed at home in Kinshasa.
Since the declaration of the epidemic on March 10, 2020, the cumulative number of cases is 36,957 including 36,956 laboratory-confirmed cases and 1 probable case. In total, there were 866 deaths and 27,911 people cured.
The Covid-19 test is free in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, except for travelers who will have to pay 30 US dollars, remember.
404 new people vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine in DRC
This bulletin from the technical secretariat of the national multisectoral response committee to the Covid-19 pandemic also indicated that four hundred and four (404) new people received the dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the DRC, including 147 in the DRC. Haut-Katanga, 121 in North Kivu, 86 in South Kivu, 52 in Kinshasa and 37 in Lualaba.
Since the start of vaccination in the DRC on April 19, 2021 until June 16, 2021 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, 39,359 people have been vaccinated in 7 provinces.
The number of people vaccinated by province is as follows: 17,940 in Kinshasa, 6,598 in Haut-Katanga, 5,741 in Kongo Central, 4,147 in North Kivu, 2,574 in Lualaba, 1,934 in South Kivu and 425 in Haut-Katanga -Uélé. New vaccination sites are being rolled out. A total of 264 sites are operational out of the 498 planned.
Among the people who received the first dose to date, there were 29,202 men, i.e. a rate of 74%, including 12,940 in Kinshasa, 5,207 in Haut-Katanga, 3,860 in Kongo Central, 3,200 in North Kivu, 2,265 in Lualaba, 1,384 in South Kivu and 336 in Haut-Uélé. Only 10,157 women were vaccinated, i.e. a rate of 26%, including 5,000 in Kinshasa, 1,881 in Kongo Central, 1,391 in Haut-Katanga, 947 in North-Kivu, 540 in South-Kivu, 309 in Lualaba and 89 in the Haut-Uélé.
