Kinshasa, Dec. 16th, 2025 (CPA). – The first seedlings for cocoa and coffee plantations have been planted on Tuesday in Nkamba, New Jerusalem, the international headquarter of the Kimbanguist Church, in Kongo Central, south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as part of the 2025-2026 agricultural season, CPA has learned from religious sources.

« The partnership between the National Office for Agricultural Products of Congo (Onapac) and the Kimbanguist community aims not only to boost production, but also to structure a complete value chain around cocoa and coffee. The launching of establishment of cocoa and coffee plantations in Nkamba is part of the 2025-2026 agricultural campaign, » has declared Mimy Monga, General Director of Onapac. She has praised the Kimbanguist community’s involvement in the national agricultural revival, as well as the agricultural vision of the spiritual leader, His Divinity Papa Simon Kimbangu Kiangani, carried forward by his direct advisor, Papa Andre Mbenza Kiangani, who has appointed the wife of the founding father of Kimbanguism as the patron of this project with a strong community impact.

In turn, Andre Mbenza, head of the Kimbanguist economy, has recognised the importance of this initiative launched by the Head of State and supported by the Ministry in charge of Agriculture and Food Security, before praising this vision and reflecting on the origins of his expertise in the agricultural field. To honour the history of the site, formerly a banana plantation, the direct advisor to the Kimbanguist spiritual leader has suggested to the head of ONAPAC that banana trees be planted among the cocoa and coffee trees, in memory of the work of Papa Dialungana Kiangani Salomon, the second spiritual leader of the Church.

This campaign is part of the national vision for agricultural recovery, with a particular focus on export crops, to make DRC a key player in the regional and international cocoa and coffee markets. The cocoa and coffee plantation in Nkamba is located on the 60-hectare Dimba Makongo agricultural site. CPA/
