2026 World Cup: DRC and Denmark draw 0-0 in a friendly football match

Kinshasa, June 3rd, 2026 (CPA).- The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Danish Dynamites of Denmark have neutralized each other, drawing 0-0 on Wednesday at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium in Liege, Belgium, in an international friendly football match. In their first warm-up match ahead of the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 11th to July 19th, DRC Leopards, ranked 46th in the world, has held the Danish Dynamites of Denmark, ranked 20th in the world, to a goalless draw at half-time. Despite this stalemate, the Leopards have had a great chance to open the scoring through Cedric Bakambu (24th minute).

Indeed, launched alone and in an ideal position, the Leopards’ centre-forward has seen his attempt narrowly saved by the Danish goalkeeper, who has kept his team in the game with a last-ditch save with his left foot, just as the spectators have expected the ball to find the back of the net. The Leopards from DRC have even created further chances in the second half without converting them, settling for a goalless draw and leaving the large Congolese crowd, who had travelled from all over Europe, disappointed.

The attack and the finishing: a challenge for Sebastien Desabre

To breathe a new wind into the Leopards, Sebastien Desabre has made substitutions in the hope of improving the situation. Thus, Noah Sadiki and Joris Kayembe came on in place of Edo Kayembe and Arthur Masuaku (54th minute), followed by Charles Pickel and Simon Banza replacing Ngal’Ayel Mukau and Cedric Bakambu (70th minute). In the end, neither the Leopards nor the Danish Dynamites have offered anything of substance to show for their efforts.

The main observation throughout the match was that DRC’s attack has lacked punch in the moves they have attempted. For now, fans are waiting to see what happens in the now hypothetical second leg between DRC and Chile, scheduled for June 9th.
