Kinshasa, August 13th, 2026 (CPA). – ‘Urgent’ measures aiming at restoring public order and tackling insecurity in Mont-Ngafula, a municipality in western Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), have been requested from the relevant authorities following the attack on a journalist and his family during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, we have learnt from the victim.

“We call on the relevant authorities to take urgent measures to put an end to the insecurity that is plunging the residents of Mont-Ngafula into a state of constant fear,” has declared Roger Bondengele, an independent journalist and victim of this criminal attack. According to him, this attack raises once again the issue of strengthening security in the peripheral districts of Kinshasa, where residents are calling for an increased police presence and effective measures to ensure the protection of people and their property.

“My family and I have just been the victims of a night-time attack by heavily armed criminals. They have beaten us severely and taken our valuables and the small amount of cash we had on us. They have smashed down the doors to gain access to the house. They have even attempted to rape my wife. The incident has taken place between 1.30 am and 2 am. I’m in shock,” he has said.
