Lusambo: the police officers reminded of the need for discipline

Lusambo, August 13th, 2026 (CPA). – A call for discipline and accountability has been issued to police officers on Thursday by the Deputy Divisional Commissioner for this jurisdiction, during a joint parade held at the October 4th Stadium in Lusambo, the chief town of Sankuru Province (Central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)).

“I have during this parade, called on all members of the Congolese National Police (PNC) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) in my sector to exercise discipline and take responsibility, as part of the process of building trust amongst themselves,” has said Albert Amisi, Deputy Divisional Commissioner of the PNC in Sankuru. “This also applies to the population. In this regard, I caution all security forces against various potential missteps that could tarnish the image of defence and law and order. It is worth noting that authority is never measured by fear, but by the trust that they manage to establish with the population,” he has added.

“This approach has been intended solely to remind the troops that the carrying and use of weapons constitute a heavy responsibility that must not be exercised outside the legal framework and operational requirements. Hence, self-control and sound judgement are required of those carrying weapons, in order to preserve human life,” he has continued.

Albert Amissi has forbidden police officers from allowing their posts to be turned into any kind of refuge for people with malicious intent or into venues for drug trafficking. The Deputy Divisional Commissioner of Sankuru has also reminded everyone that facilities intended for the security forces must remain spaces dedicated exclusively to their official duties and must not be used as a cover for criminal or illegal activities.
