Kinshasa, October 5th, 2025 (CPA).- Football personalities, including the President of the International Federation of Football Association (Fifa) and former Congolese Leopards, have been received on Saturday evening at the City of the African Union (AU) by the Congolese Head of State, according to the Congolese Presidency.
« The Head of State Felix Tshisekedi has talked with Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), and Dr Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (Caf) ». According to the source, on Saturday’s hearings programme, there has been that of the former Leopards of 1968-1974, who were world players in Germany. « The President of the Republic has (…) received the former Leopards footballers, African champions 1968-1974 and world players of 1974, led by the Minister in charge of Sport, Didier Budimbu ».
According to the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State has closed this series of audiences granted on the side-lines of the 47th Ordinary General Assembly of the African Confederation on Monday in Kinshasa, by receiving the French judoka, Teddy Riner, several times world champion and Olympic champion in the discipline, and that these meetings in Kinshasa are of a highly symbolic nature for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which is hosting a meeting of this scale for the first time.
The AGO is Caf’s highest decision-making body, enabling the 54 member associations to define the broad guidelines for the coming season. The AGO examines the competitions, adopts the budget and the audited accounts, examines statutory matters and sets the priorities that will shape the development of African football.
