Kinshasa, July 22nd, 2026 (CPA).- Private-sector organizations were invited Wednesday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to mobilize their members for technical collaboration on the General Population and Housing Census 2, during an awareness-raising meeting. “I suggest that you mobilize your members around four strategic areas: operational facilitation, technical collaboration, awareness-raising and communication, and the inclusion of young people,” declared Guylain Nyembo, Minister of State and Minister of Planning and Coordination of Development Aid. “I am convinced that, as employers’ organizations, you will answer this patriotic call and put your leadership to work in support of this great national ambition. Together, let’s make RGPH2 a collective success,” he added. According to the Minister of Planning, the concrete impact of the census on their activities is reflected in four key areas, including strategic planning, mapping the private sector, and analyzing the labor market. “I would like to emphasize one major driver of transformation in particular: the formalization of our economy. By identifying invisible economic actors and understanding the actual structure of economic activity across the country, the census will facilitate the transition from the informal to the formal sector,” he said.
Before continuing, he noted that, “This process is essential for broadening our country’s tax base and strengthening the mobilization of domestic revenues necessary for development,” he said. Mr. Nyembo noted that the success of RGPH2 is also a success for the Congolese private sector. By supporting this initiative, they are helping to create a more predictable, attractive, and investment-friendly environment. “ The success of this national endeavor extends beyond the scope of the state; in a modern economy, statistical information is the foundation of private-sector performance. If the state needs this data to govern, your companies need it to thrive. It is precisely through this synergy that the results of RGPH 2 will become a strategic decision-making tool for your organizations,” has concluded Guylain Nyembo. This conference was attended by various organizations, including: the International Chamber of Commerce of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (ICC/DRC); the Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Congo (COPEMECO); the National Federation of Artisans, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Congo (FENAPEC); the National Commission of Young Entrepreneurs of the FEC (CNJE-FEC); and the Federation of Young Entrepreneurs of Congo (FNJEC).ACP/
