CHAN 2024: Guinea beat Niger (1-0) in group C

Kinshasa, August 4th, 2025 (CPA).- Guinea beat Niger 1-0 on Monday at the Mandela National stadium in Kampala, Uganda, in the match on day 1 of group C of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. Niger’s Menas showed their determination and ambition to win the match from the outset, opening the scoring in the first half through Goumey (34′), but the goal was disallowed for a position deemed contentious by VAR. It was not until the final minutes of the first half that Guinea’s Syli National found a way through, scoring the only goal of the game through Bangoura (47th) (1-0).

That was the score line at half-time. After the break, both sides gave their all and the two attacking lines remained solid and concentrated until referee Mehrez Malki blew the final whistle (1-0), the final score in favour of Guinea’s Syli National, who are now provisionally top of Group C with 3 points. For the record, this is Guinea’s third win over Niger in the last four matches.
