Kinshasa, June 15th, 2025 (CPA).- China has reaffirmed its commitment to provide USD 50 billion for its initiatives in Africa, the Minister of Foreign Trade of the Democratic Republic of Congo has announced on Sunday on his X account at the close of the 4th Economic and Trade Exhibition which was held in Changsha. ‘China has reaffirmed its commitment to provide significant financial support in the order of USD 50 billion for the implementation of its initiatives in Africa,’ has declared Julien Paluku, Minister in charge of Foreign Trade. According to him, the closing of the 4th Economic and Trade Fair in Changsha, China, was devoted to evaluating the implementation of the Chinese president’s ten initiatives, which are part of China and Africa’s broader goal of ‘joining hands to advance modernisation and build a community of shared destiny.’ He has recalled that during the summit of Heads of State meeting in Beijing in September 2024 as part of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Chinese President Xi Jinping had announced a set of ‘Ten Partnership Initiatives’ aiming to strengthen cooperation between China and Africa.
He has indicated that these actions cover a wide range of areas, namely: partnership for mutual inspiration between civilisations. This involves deepening the exchange of experiences in governance, strengthening cooperation between think tanks, and intensifying exchanges and cooperation on the State of law. This includes the creation of platforms for the exchange of experiences on governance, China-Africa study centres, and training programmes for legal professionals; the partnership for trade prosperity. The aim is to expand access to the Chinese market for African agricultural products, deepen cooperation in e-commerce, and grant zero customs tariffs on 100% of products exported to China by certain least developed African countries; the partnership for cooperation on industrial chains. Promoting Chinese investment in pharmaceutical production in Africa and supporting the development of African Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Africa). This 4th economic and trade exhibition was held from June 12th to 15th in Changsha, China, where several African countries have participated and exchanged views with certain Chinese authorities.
