Kinshasa, october 6th, 2025 (CPA).- The National Youth Council (CNJ) was invited on Monday to direct more actions, activities and funding towards the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to console and support young people living in conflict zones, during a discussion in Kinshasa. ‘For young people living in the east of our country, I invite the new office of the National Youth Council not to limit the Council’s activities, advocacy and actions to the city of Kinshasa,’ said Ornella Aosa, president of the Kasavubu Municipal Youth Council. ‘The east of the country is also part of the Republic. Let us direct our activities and actions towards comforting and supporting our sisters and brothers who are suffering on the other side.
Let us also direct funding and advocacy towards achieving equity for Congolese youth and providing psychological support to our friends who are directly affected,’ she added. She also called on the new CNJ team to continue raising awareness among young people living in conflict zones by mobilizing them around peace and issues of coexistence. These will be good actions to ensure that they do not feel isolated and alone.
The chair of the CCJ/KV also proposed to this new team that advocacy should take place at all levels, including provincial councils, territorial councils, municipal councils and even local councils. « Developments start at the grassroots level. If some of our expectations are met at the higher level but we are not satisfied at the lower level, then it is the grassroots, it is these young people who will always have dissatisfactions that will be passed on, and their assessment will be negative as a result , » she said, before congratulating the new CNJ committee and advising them to work as one. ‘I would like the councils to be considered as one body. We have the same difficulties and we want our voice to be heard loud and clear through them.
For Congolese youth, particularly the youth of the city of Kinshasa, the youth of Kinshasa, and more specifically the youth of Kasavubu, let us restore confidence in the National Youth Council and believe in new energies,’ she said. Ms Aosa also reiterated her support for the new committee, while asking them to work together in the interests of young people. « Let’s work together, it’s all of us, let’s always be motivated. If you have any ideas, don’t hesitate to share them so that together we can support our youth and our council.
The Head of State, the President of the Republic, has reiterated his confidence in us today, and together we can honour that confidence. Let’s take all the ideas we’ve put on the back burner and bring them to the fore. support our new president and together we will take our youth even higher, » she concluded. The newly elected bureau of the National Youth Council was inaugurated last Saturday in Kinshasa, headed by Claude Mbuyi, the new president elected on 30 August at the general assembly of this body.
