Kinshasa, March 5th,2026 (CPA).- The contributions of artists from the new generation in the Democratic Republic of Congo to the promotion of Congolese culture and rumba on the international scene have been praised by singer Jossart Nyoka Longo during his appearance on Wednesday on a French television channel. ‘Our young brothers are doing good job, following the example of Fally Ipupa, who will be performing at the Stade de France on May 2nd and 3rd, 2026. There are many of them (…). As for us, we are passing on the torch. They are the ones who will replace us in carrying the torch of Congolese culture and rumba,’ has declared Jossart Nyoka Longo. According to the leader of the Zaiko Langa Langa orchestra, the new generation of Congolese artists stands out for its dynamism and ability to conquer major international stages, while modernising Congolese rumba and adapting it to current musical realities.
He has also emphasised that this evolution is a natural continuation in the history of Congolese music, where each generation brings its own artistic touch while preserving the essence of this musical heritage recognised throughout Africa and the world. Furthermore, Nyoka Longo has encouraged the young musicians to persevere in their work, discipline and creativity in order to preserve the authenticity of this major cultural heritage.
Jossart Nyoka Longo and his orchestra Zaiko langa langa are scheduled to perform on April 24th, 2026, at the Zenith Paris-la Villette in France, as part of their international activities aiming to promote Congolese rumba to European public.
