DRC: Aime Boji, presidential majority candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly

Kinshasa, October 29th, 2025 (CPA).- The National Deputy Aime Boji has been officially selected as the candidate of the Sacred Union of the Nation for the position of President of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has announced the presidential platform during a press briefing held on Wednesday in Kinshasa.

« I am pleased to announce that the Sacred Union of the Nation will present the number one candidate on the list of files in alphabetical order, the Honourable Boji Sangara Aime, for election to the position of President of the National Assembly. He will therefore, from this moment on, be the Sacred Union of the Nation’s candidate for the position of President of the National Assembly, » has declared Prof. Andre Mbata, Permanent Secretary of the Sacred Union of the Nation. ‘He is not just a party candidate; he is the choice of the presidential majority. He embodies the good side of history,’ he has added. Prof. Mbata has explained that all the other candidates, in a spirit of political discipline and loyalty to the vision of the Sacred Union, had agreed to rally behind Aime Boji’s candidacy.

‘There are no divisions, no internal fractures. We are all going to play our part. That is the strength of the Sacred Union: a united, disciplined majority committed to the good of the country,’ he has specified. Aime Boji, elected representative of the Walungu territory in Sud-Kivu, a province in eastern DRC, had held the position of Minister in charge of Industry since last August. He had previously been Minister in charge of the Budget. He has submitted his resignation from the government on Monday October 20th before devoting himself to his new conquest at the helm of the lower house of the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A list of twelve candidates, members of the Sacred Union of the Nation (USN), for the position of President of the National Assembly had been published on Friday October 24th by the permanent secretary of this political platform. In addition to Aime Boji, the list included, among others, the second vice-president of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso of the CRD/AACRD political group, the initiator of the petition against Vital Kamerhe, Crispin Mbindule of the UDPS/Tshisekedi, and Willy Mishiki of the PEP-AAAP political group.  CPA/
