DRC: Assessment of petroleum product supply measures with logistics companies

Kinshasa, November 13th, 2025 (CPA) – Petroleum product supply measures were assessed on Thursday in Kinshasa between the Ministry in charge of Hydrocarbons and logistics companies, with a view to reviewing the progress of measures taken to remedy the scarcity of petroleum products in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a statement seen by the CPA.

‘(…) The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of the progress made on the measures decided by the Minister of State in charge of Hydrocarbons to find a lasting solution to the thorny problem of the scarcity of petroleum products following the damage to the SEP Congo pipeline,’ the statement said. According to the source, the Director General of Petroleum, Erwan Jehonme, indicated that several initiatives had been launched to ensure a regular supply of fuel to the city of Kinshasa. However, he mentioned the persistent traffic jams that could hinder the transport of petroleum products to the capital.

In response to this concern, the press release reported that the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Acacia Bandubola, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the success of operations and the optimal management of road traffic, with a view to ensuring the smooth flow of transport and the availability of products on the market. For his part, Petroleum’s director of operations, Hervé Mfuamba, announced the upcoming commissioning of new transport units designed to strengthen the fuel supply capacity of the megacity of Kinshasa, the document said.

This meeting is part of the follow-up to the corrective measures taken after the incident that occurred on the night of Saturday 18 to Sunday, October 19th, 2025, when vandals punctured the pipeline carrying petroleum products to the SEP Congo depot in Kinshasa, disrupting supplies to the capital. CPA/
