Kolwezi, October 22nd, 2026 (CPA): – British companies’ investments in Lualaba province (south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo), primarily in the energy sector, have been the focus of discussions on Wednesday in Kolwezi between a delegation led by the UK Ambassador to DRC and the provincial Governor.
“It is a real pleasure to be here in Kolwezi with my team. We have talked about opportunities for British companies to come here to support development. The sector in which we are currently most involved is the energy sector, because I know you need more energy for the population and also for the mines. And we have British investments that are increasing opportunities for a new grid,” Zoe Ware, the UK Ambassador to DRC, has declared.
Furthermore, the Ambassador has indicated that two weeks ago, Gridworks and the British partners have signed agreements for the grid that will link Zambia to Kolwezi (DRC), before specifying that a feasibility study for hydroelectricity, led by British International Investment, is currently underway in Lualaba province. The visit will continue in the companies of the Glencore Group, the world’s leading cobalt producer, where the issue of energy will also be at the centre of discussions.
