DRC football: the ban on recruiting Mazembe players denied by the club

Kinshasa, February 3rd, 2026 (CPA). – The information concerning the ban on the recruitment of players from TP Mazembe of Lubumbashi, in Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), was denied on Tuesday by the Lubumbashi club, according to a statement received on Tuesday by CPA. ‘TP Mazembe of Lubumbashi informs the sporting community that it is not subject to any ban on the recruitment of players. To date, no instructions are in progress and no complaints have been filed against the club,’ it is read. According to the source, this alleged measure has been lifted by FIFA on Monday, February 2nd, 2026.

According to this administrative document, the Lubumbashi club is no longer involved in this dispute, which concerns the payment of a debt to Raja Club Athletic of Casablanca, as the Moroccan club has not filed any complaint against Mazembe, having received the full amount of the debt. Still on this issue, the club’s law firm has also confirmed that it has not identified any case relating to any sanction against the Lubumbashi Ravens.

For this reason, the club has reaffirmed its commitment to strict compliance with the regulations in force and has reserved the right to take appropriate action against any misinformation that could damage its image. With this clarification, TP Mazembe intends to reassure its supporters and the sporting community, and to definitively turn the page on a controversy that it considers unjustified. ACP/
