DRC: Government announces acquisition of dredgers from a company to clean up its rivers

Kinshasa, February 15th, 2026, (CPA).- The acquisition of dredgers destined to clean up the rivers of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been announced on Friday in Rotterdam, Netherlands, by the Minister in charge of Infrastructure, with a view to fight floods, during his official mission in a Dutch company, according to a communiqué consulted on Saturday by CPA.  « (…) DRC is obliged to have large dredgers to clean the river, the rivers and other medium-sized ones to dredge the river’s confluences. Because if the river remains undredged, it causes flooding in several parts of the Republic from its confluence, » has declared John Banza, Minister in charge of Infrastructure and Public Works (ITP), quoted in the press release. According to the source, Mr Frederic Van Der Putte, Regional Director for Africa at the Dutch company Damen, has indicated that his company intends to strengthen its cooperation ties with DRC to bring several projects to fruition. For information, Damen is a leading international Dutch shipbuilding group, founded in 1927. It is renowned for the standardisation and mass production of ships. ACP/
