Kinshasa, June 8th, 2026 (CPA).- The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Civil Service of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Monday stated that any legal action should primarily target the Rwandan President, reacting to the opposition’s announced complaint against the Congolese Head of State, according to a publication on his X account. “The only complaint truly worth filing today is the one against aggressor Paul Kagame, who is illegally occupying part of our territory and whose actions have led to the massacre of millions of Congolese,” wrote Jean-Pierre Lihau, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Civil Service. According to the Government official, the planned legal action against the President comes at a time when the country is facing major security challenges.
“Attacking the person piloting the Congo aircraft while it is flying through severe turbulence is an incongruous and unpatriotic attitude,” he stressed. He further argued that such an initiative could carry political consequences for its promoters.
“If the opposition files this absurd complaint against the President of the Republic, it will discredit itself,” he added.
His reaction follows the announcement by opposition figures of their intention to file a complaint against the President of the Republic. The initiative has already sparked divergent reactions within the Congolese political class against the backdrop of ongoing military and diplomatic efforts undertaken by Kinshasa to address the persistent insecurity in eastern DRC.
