DRC is committed to support initiatives that strengthen young people’s digital skills (DG ARTPC)

Kinshasa, August 20th, 2026 (CPA). – The Congo Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARTPC) has reaffirmed the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) willingness to place young people and dialogue at the heart of digital governance, during the 4th edition of the Youth Forum on Internet Governance, held on Thursday in Kinshasa. “DRC remains fully committed to support initiatives aiming to strengthen young people’s digital skills I…] and will also continue to encourage multi-stakeholder forums for dialogue such as this one, in the belief that the constructive exchange of ideas contributes to the development of relevant public policies […] that are likely to contribute in one way or another to improving internet governance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” has declared Ruph Ntamowe, Director of Regulation and Affairs at the ARTPC. “DRC will also continue to encourage multi-stakeholder dialogue forums such as this one, in the belief that the constructive exchange of ideas contributes to the development of relevant, inclusive public policies tailored to the realities of our country, a fruitful forum for exchange, enabling the emergence of informed analyses and concrete recommendations that may, in one way or another, contribute to improving Internet governance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” he has added. ‎ Mr Ntambwe has praised this initiative and the high standard of organisation provided by the Internet Society DRC and the IGF-DRC organising committees, which have brought together young people, the private sector, civil society, public authorities and stakeholders from the digital ecosystem. “This forum fully embodies the multi-stakeholder approach, which is the cornerstone of community governance. The theme you have chosen this year – ‘youth, digital sovereignty and inclusive governance’ – is perfectly aligned with the government’s strategic priorities,” he has said. Furthermore, Kevine Mukendi, coordinator of Youth IGF, has praised the involvement of young people in digital governance in DRC. “The aim is to involve young people in decisions concerning digital inclusion in DRC. Young people themselves make up more than 80% of the national population and must be involved in all decisions concerning our digital future,” he has argued. He has noted that this year’s event has focused on digital sovereignty, artificial intelligence, cyber security and connectivity.
