Kinshasa, November 11th, 2025 (CPA) . –The commitment to consolidate the ‘historic’ cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the State of Israel through new partnerships was made on Tuesday by the heads of state of both countries during a one-on-one meeting in Kinshasa, the Congolese capital. “Forming a friendship caucus between the DRC and Israel is a great success. The evidence is clear: there is a deep friendship between the two countries, through projects that benefit both of us, and this will be an opportunity to seize. There are therefore many opportunities, and we have already seen significant growth emerging from various collaborations in different sectors,” said Isaac Herzog, President of Israel, during a joint press briefing with his Congolese counterpart. ‘There is no doubt that there is much we can do. We have had in-depth discussions and I am very happy that we are here to strengthen and broaden our visions, to see how we can achieve these goals. And we have been very excited to follow your vision,’ he added. The press briefing was held during a working visit of several hours to Kinshasa, the Congolese capital, by the Israeli President. The development of strategic partnerships in the mining, agricultural, energy and defense sectors was also discussed during the one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, followed by a working session with their colleagues. “We have many opportunities to offer the business community and Israeli economic operators in several areas, including mining, infrastructure, energy, agriculture and education. We discussed all of this, and I am pleased to say that things are going very, very well,” said Félix Tshisekedi, President of the DRC, during the joint press briefing. The two leaders took turns expressing their satisfaction with this historic visit, which marks more than 40 years of diplomatic relations between Kinshasa and Tel Aviv.
Towards intensified intergovernmental exchanges
The Israeli Head of State upon his arrival at N’djili Airport with President Tshisekedi “Thank you for coming to discover this event, which is a great event, even a historic one. You know that Israel is very developed and at the forefront in many areas. I mention them in passing: security, culture, high technology and even protection techniques. There are many opportunities to discuss and seal partnerships,” he said. President Félix Tshisekedi reassured that intergovernmental meetings to plan projects are expected in the coming weeks in Kinshasa. ‘We have discussed all of this and I can tell you that things are progressing very, very well in the coming weeks. If all goes well, if everything goes as planned, our Minister of Foreign Affairs will visit his counterpart in Israel. And that should enable us to pave the way to realise what we are saying here,’ he insisted. On his first ever visit to Central Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), President Isaac Herzog sees this trip as part of strengthening his country’s position on the international stage and cooperation between Israel and the DRC. This working visit to Kinshasa also serves to consolidate relations between Presidents Herzog and Tshisekedi, who have already met twice in 2021, in Jerusalem, Israel, and in January of this year in Davos, Switzerland. The two heads of state have always been in favor of developing a partnership between their countries in the diplomatic, political, security, agricultural, infrastructure and digital sectors, in which Israel has proven expertise.
