DRC: More than 30 young Congolese selected for funding (President of the Republic)

Kinshasa, December 8th, 2025 (CPA) – More than thirty young people participating in the Village of Opportunities organised in Kinshasa (capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo) have been selected to  receive funding or pre-financing, according to  the President of the Republic during his address to the nation on Monday before Congress. « From December 3rd to 5th, at the Tata Raphael stadium, this initiative has provided a space for training, guidance and direct access to economic opportunities. A total of 2,190 young people have been trained, 235 internships granted, around 50 recruitments were made and more than 30 participants were selected for funding or pre-financing”, has explained President Felix Tshisekedi in his address to the nation. The Head of State has indicated that, in a country where young people represent the majority of the population, it is the duty of institutions to offer them prospects, skills, jobs, financing and a full place in national development. It is with this in mind that the Ministry in charge of Youth, in partnership with the relevant public services, the private sector and technical partners, organised the first edition of the Youth Opportunities Village. ‘It is to these same young people that I wish to address myself directly during a face-to-face meeting on December 13th. And it is to them that I reiterate this moral pact: the State owes you real opportunities, and you owe the nation your energy and commitment,’ he has insisted. According to the Head of State, this initiative by the Ministry in charge of Youth aims to establish a framework bringing together the State, businesses and young people around the creation of concrete jobs and the promotion of national skills. The Minister in charge of Youth will also hold discussions with young people on December 13th, as part of the strengthening of this moral pact. On this occasion, the President of the Republic has also announced the launching, in 2026, of the first phase of the project to extend the city of Kinshasa to the industrial city of Maluku, covering a total area of 430 km². This first stage, covering 75 km², involves the construction of 1,200 factories over five years, including 160 starting in 2026, with a view to decongesting the capital, creating jobs and improving water, energy and electricity services in this part of the city.
