Kinshasa, November 24th, 2025 (CPA).- The price of a tonne of cobalt, an export product of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has decreased by 0.01% internationally, trading at USD 47,885.00 on November 24th, 2025, compared to USD 47,893.00 the previous week, according to the Foreign Trade Ministry’s market reports consulted on Monday by CPA. ‘The price of cobalt has decreased by 0.01% per tonne on international markets during the period from November 24th to 29th, 2025, trading at USD 47,885.00 during the week under review, compared to USD 47,893.00 the previous week,’ it is read. Compared to the weeks of November 10th to 15th, 2025, and November 17th to 22nd, 2025, this product has been traded at USD 47,902.00 compared to USD 47,908.00 the previous week, a decline of 1.25% and at USD 47,893.00 compared to USD 47,902.00 the previous week, a decline of 0.01% per tonne. It should be noted that the rise and stability in the prices of marketable mining products are a result of supply and demand on international markets and the supply chain. These variations have a direct impact on the Congolese economy, which is heavily dependent on raw material exports, particularly in the mining sector. It should be noted that cobalt is mainly mined in the province of Lualaba, in the south-east of the country around the city of Kolwezi, and in Haut-Katanga in the east of DRC. Lualaba accounts for around 80% of national cobalt production. In addition to the deposits in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba, cobalt is also found in other areas of DRC.
