DRC: the integration of women’s priorities recommended for peace agreements

Kinshasa, December 16th, 2025 (CPA).- The effective integration of women’s priorities into peace agreements has been recommended during a workshop to present the database and follow up on recommendations from the specifications on Tuesday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

‘Peace is fragile, and when women participate, peace becomes sustainable. The women’s specifications aim for meaningful participation by women at a level of 50% and young people at a level of at least 30% at all stages of the peace process, as well as the effective integration of their priorities into peace agreements,’ has declared Micheline Ombae, Minister in charge of Gender, Family and Children (GFAE). ‘The women and security database we are presenting today is not just a technical tool, it is also an instrument of truth, guidance and anticipation designed to inform public decisions and strengthen conflict prevention and post-conflict reconstruction,’ she has added.

The Minister in charge of GFAE has reminded the efforts made by the Congolese government to implement UN Resolution 1325. ‘With a gender-sensitive approach, the government of the republic is firmly committed to implementing the third-generation national action plan for Resolution 1325 and to combating conflict-related sexual violence,’ she has said. ‘I call on everyone, institutions, partners and civil society to mobilise. Let us join forces to make women central actors in peace in order to consolidate national stability and build sustainable development. Peace in DRC is a matter of urgency. The participation of women is a necessity. Collective commitment is our responsibility,’ she has added.

This workshop has been organised by the National Secretariat 1325 of the Ministry in charge of Gender, Family and Children (GFAE) to strengthen the implementation of UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. CPA/
