Kinshasa, April 15th, 2026 (CPA) – The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been invited to the 5th edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (Türkiye), the Turkish ambassador to the DRC announced on Tuesday during an audience at the African Union City in Kinshasa, according to a statement from the Congolese Presidency received on Wednesday by CPA. “Held under the theme: ‘Mapping the Future, Managing Uncertainties’, the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum will take place from April 17th to 19th, 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye. On the sidelines of the proceedings, the President of the Republic received Murat Ülkü, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the DRC,” the statement read. According to the source, this high-level gathering will be an opportunity for the DRC to further amplify its voice as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term.
“This Forum represents a valuable opportunity to project the voice of the DRC through its status as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2026–2027 period. It will bring together more than 5,000 participants from 150 countries, including at least 20 heads of state and 50 foreign ministers, to discuss peace, sustainability, digitalization and the future of international cooperation in a context of shifting global power balances,” the Presidency stated. For the Congolese Government, this new mandate aims to strengthen Africa’s voice and peace efforts, particularly in the eastern part of the country. “The advocacy for better African representation is supported by the United Nations. Four main priorities are aligned: bringing a renewed and constructive voice to enrich discussions on international peace and security; contributing to peace operations reform, transitional justice, environmental protection, and the fight against conflict minerals; defending fairer regional representation within the collective security system; and promoting human rights justice, democracy, and especially the women, youth, peace and security agenda,” the statement concluded.
