Lusambo, April 8th, 2026 (CPA).- The opinion leaders have been sensitized on participatory security governance to ensure the smooth running of the election for governor and deputy governor of Sankuru province, in the centre of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, during a morning discussion held on Wednesday in Lusambo, the provincial chief town. “I have convened all opinion leaders, regardless of their tendencies, to study how we can ensure the security of the election of the new provincial authorities who will lead Sankuru Province in the future. This message is being delivered in the context of a sensitization for a participatory security governance in order to enable the National Electoral Commission (CENI) to hold a peaceful election, scheduled for April 15th,” has declared, Albert Amissi Nyembo, Provincial Divisional Commissioner of the Congolese National Police (PNC) and President of the Provincial Operations Centre for the Security of the Electoral Process in Sankuru Province. And he has noted: “Taking into account the fundamental principles of the Congolese National Police’s (PNC) vision, as outlined in the community policing doctrine, it is our duty to invite you to participate in this kind of civic initiative, considering you as partners and active members in the pursuit of participatory security governance.” “The protection of people and their property is no longer the sole responsibility of law enforcement and security services, but a shared responsibility that encompasses all social strata for the collective well-being,” he has continued. “I pay a vibrant tribute to the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) and the PNC, who spares no effort to restore complete peace across the entire national territory and who ensures the proper functioning of democratic institutions at all levels,” he has said. He has further asked stakeholders to do their useful part by relaying this message as opinion leaders to contribute to the tranquillity that calls for a collective effort, which is an expression of shared responsibility.
