Kinshasa, February 2nd, 2026 (CPA).- First aid techniques were explained to residents of Gombe, a commune in northern Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to save lives, during the launch on Monday of a first aid foundation. « I launched this foundation because I was shocked by the death of my husband; I was determined to make the Diko Foundation a haven of peace where citizens of the world could find solutions tailored to their situations. Given that it was born out of pain and loss, my foundation trains and informs the population about first aid measures to save lives, » said Gloria Nzanza, president of the foundation. She explained that this initiative came about following the sudden death of her husband. « A tragedy gave rise to a mission to raise awareness in order to prevent the worst, which was not the case for
Cédric, my husband, » she explained. It should be noted that first aid training remains the foundation’s core activity. A series of actions is planned to teach people how to ensure their own safety, that of the victim, and that of those around them First aid practice in the DRC is gaining awareness in the face of security risks and accidents, despite a lack of theoretical training for half the population. The law requires training in the workplace, but
inadequate practices persist. The Red Cross and other actors are intensifying training for hemorrhages, resuscitation, and choking.
