Kinshasa, December 14th, 2025 (CPA). – One hundred (100) women have been operated at low cost during the ‘Endoscopy for All’ campaign, organised from December 5th to 13th in Likasi, in the province of Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo, by the Daemmi Berline Foundation (FoDAB), in collaboration with Saint-Paul Hospital, organisers have announced on Sunday. ‘This gynaecological endoscopy campaign has registered 304 women. Among them, 174 benefited from consultations and specialised ultrasounds, and 100 women have been operated on at a lower cost,’ has declared Benie Tshidi, executive assistant at FoDAB. « The aim was to enable as many women as possible to benefit, particularly those with problems such as abnormal bleeding, persistent lower abdominal pain, infertility, recurrent miscarriages, heavy and prolonged periods, light or absent periods, and other gynaecological conditions. These were complex cases such as fibroids and cysts. » For his part, Dr Hermann Ntamubango, medical director of Saint Paul Hospital, has explained that gynaecological endoscopy is a technique that involves operating with an endoscope, a thin medical instrument equipped with a light and a camera that allows the inside of the body’s cavities and organs to be explored without opening the abdomen widely. « We made the hospital available for the activities of this campaign, a first here in Likasi. There have been many difficulties, particularly logistical ones, due to a lack of support and partners, but also in terms of raising awareness. Women who had been suffering in silence have opened up to us and found solutions. For us, this campaign has been a real bonus for our technical facilities and our healthcare system, » he has indicated. Based in Kinshasa, FoDAB is headed by Professor Emmanuel Nzau, a gynaecologist and obstetrician. It aims to extend gynaecological endoscopy to all provinces of DRC and Central Africa. The next ‘Endoscopy for All’ campaign is scheduled for March 2026 in Kinshasa.
