Lubumbashi, July 21st, 2026 (CPA).- The Mahembe and Samba avenues, in the Kalebuka neighbourhood of Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga province, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), are at an advanced stage of rehabilitation, CPA has noticed on Tuesday. “Of the Mahembe and Samba avenues, the former links the Kasungami neighbourhood, in the Annexe municipality, to the municipality of Katuba, whilst the second has long been a real ordeal for road users. This infrastructure will also help ease traffic congestion and improve the city’s connection to the Kasumbalesa road,” has declared Guy Mwanza, technical adviser to the Ministry in charge of infrastructure. ‘On Mulongo Avenue, in the Katuba municipality, the road has been fully asphalted; it presents a new look and facilitates the movement of people and goods,’ he has added. These residential and commercial arteries are mainly located in the densely populated Katuba municipality. Katuba is situated in the south-western part of the agglomeration, at about 15 to 25 minutes’ drive from the city centre and not far from the main Kipushi road.
