Lubumbashi, October 6th, 2026 (CPA). – An inspection visit to several on-going construction projects has been carried out in Lubumbashi, in the province of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the acting governor, CPA has learned on Tuesday from an official source.

“We have visited the former M’zee Market to assess the progress of the demolition work that began on October 1st, 2026. In less than three days, the former market has been completely demolished and work is now at the stage of clearing away the rubble. This operation was successful thanks to the use of appropriate machinery, including three crawler excavators, a loader and ten tipper lorries for debris removal,” Martin Kazembe, acting governor has declared. He has indicated that he has instructed the security services to ensure the safety of the workers as well as all the equipment. Mr. Kazembe has explained that on Kiwele Avenue in the municipalities of Kampemba and Ruashi, only a 140-metre section remained to be laid with the base course. CPA/
