Haut-Katanga: Launching of work on the 2027 budget forecast at the Congolese Control Office

Lubumbashi, October 12th, (CPA) : – Work on the 2027 budget forecast has been launched, on Monday in Lubumbashi, in the province of Haut-Katanga in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the Congolese Control Office (OCC)/Katanga, focusing on the office’s recovery, the consolidation of social peace and the accreditation of laboratories, CPA has reported. “This work on consolidating the budgetary forecast projects for 2027 constitutes an important step towards ensuring the agency’s recovery, consolidating social peace and strengthening the accreditation of our laboratories,” Paulin Kasereka, provincial director of the OCC-Katanga, has declared.

This meeting, he has said, scheduled for October 12th to 24th, 2026, brings together budget experts, the delegate from the General Direction, division heads, agency heads and trade union representatives. The participants are charged to evaluate the achievements of the first nine months of the 2026 financial year, extrapolate them through to the end of December and propose budget forecasts for the year 2027. “This initiative follows the service note dated September 17th, 2026, from the General Director of the OCC, Professor Pierre Lohohola, concerning the elaboration of the 2027 budget forecasts. The work centres on the exploitation budget, the investment budget funded from own resources, and the cash flow budget, comprising cash inflows and outflows,” he has added. Mr Kasereka has stated that the budgetary guidelines for 2027 also provide for the strengthening of technical and logistical capacities, the modernisation of laboratories, the digitisation of operational, administrative and financial procedures, as well as the inclusion of growth-driving projects not implemented in 2026. “We must work with responsibility, focus and team spirit in order to present our superiors with budget forecasts that are realistic, coherent and capable of supporting the development of Western Katanga in 2027,” he has concluded.
