Kinshasa, July 23rd, 2026 (CPA).- A call has been made to the youth of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to take part in the inclusive dialogue as agents of change and to work towards unity, according to a statement from a youth association received on Thursday by CPA.
“The political affiliation must not divide us. As young people, it is our duty to take part in the inclusive dialogue not as spectators, but as agents of change, unity and social cohesion, because the future is being shaped today and the country’s history must be written differently,” it is read in the statement from the non-profit organisation “Elenge lamuka na pongi”, signed by Fiston Mutombo, its national coordinator. “The Congo is our common home. We must not allow those who seek to divide us to turn our differences into hatred,” has added the source, thereby calling on young people to combat tribalism by promoting cultural diversity as a force for cohesion. “Our languages are different, our cultures are rich and our origins are diverse, but our destiny is common. We have the same flag, the same territory, the same history and the same hopes,” has indicated the non-profit organisation “Elenge lamuka na pongi”, before clarifying that the common enemy of the Congolese people is division.
“When the Congo is attacked, it is not a single tribe that is under attack: it is the entire Congolese nation. When our brothers and sisters suffer in the east, their pain is felt by every Congolese person, from Kinshasa to Goma, from Lubumbashi to Kisangani, from Matadi to Bunia. We may differ in our origins, but we are united by a single homeland,” the source has emphasised. “Whether we are Mukongo, Mugala, Muswahili or Muluba (…) we are one people: the Congolese people. Today more than ever, let us rally round what unites us: the greater good of DRC,” the statement has added. This youth association has also reiterated that differences must never outweigh love for DRC. The source has also called on young people to put the country before tribes, personal interests and political ambitions. CPA/
