Kinshasa, October 30th, 2025 (CPA).- On Thursday in Kinshasa, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo opted for the implementation of inclusive and participatory policies to integrate women into the decision-making process, during a solidarity meeting between women in power and those in civil society. « Solidarity among women is the key to opening the doors to evolutionary change. We are here to reflect together on the future of equality among women, a power that will prove to us what equality means with cooperation and solidarity among all. For these efforts to bear fruit, it is important to put in place inclusive and participatory policies so that all women’s voices, regardless of their origins or positions, are heard and integrated into the decision-making process, » said Judith Suminwa. According to the Head of Government, it is essential to promote sincere and constructive exchanges between women, in particular by strengthening the relationship of solidarity and courage.
This must also be reflected in concrete actions, such as joint campaigns and community initiatives aimed at raising awareness, changing attitudes and combating gender stereotypes. ‘It is by understanding these three key areas at the summit: strengthening networks, collective mobilization and policy design, that we can move towards a more just society where every woman can flourish and contribute to great change,’ she said. ‘What is becoming acceptable today is that crimes or violations against women are often dealt with in a uniform, generalized manner, a reading of time that renders them invisible, erasing their weight, their pain and their dismay. Behind the figures, behind the statistics on human and economic losses, there is a source of resilience and courage that deserves to be heard and recognized,’ she added, before acknowledging the contribution of women in both conflict and peacetime contexts to family security, community reconstruction, peace building and national cohesion.

A view of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa’s speech
« Despite this context of artificial security, the DRC should not take pride in affliction and resilience. It is this invisible void that puts us, women and girls, at ease despite adversity. This is the place to recognize all that women contribute, both in times of conflict and in times of peace, to family security, community rebuilding, peace building and cohesion. Throughout our territories, as in our provinces, particularly in areas under occupation, women are rising up against our aggressions, » said MS Suminwa. She noted that Resolution 1325, now in its third generation, proposes four fundamental areas of focus: women’s political participation, prevention of violence, protection of human rights, and promotion of social and human debate in the processes of life.

The Prime Minister said that the role of women is becoming essential for problem prevention, mediation, reconstruction and governance. Their influence can only be strengthened if, as exemplified by this meeting, initiatives for solidarity and dialogue multiply at all levels, from surveys and reassurance to economic discussions. « These meetings must be held on an equal footing in order to ensure effective synergy and a lasting commitment to peace and justice. On behalf of the Government, I would therefore like to express my gratitude to the women of civil society for their resolute commitment and determination, » she said, while paying tribute to the Head of State for his commitment to promoting gender equality. « This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Head of State, Mr. Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, a true champion of positive masculinity. His vision, which recognizes the value of actively participating in economic processes, and his commitment to increasing the representation of women in decision-making spheres, » she acknowledged. She pointed out that the percentage of women in government positions is now close to 27% of the total, up from 31% last year. This promotion now stands at around 32%.
