Kinshasa, July 21st, 2025 (CPA/IRNA).- Iran’s Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs has indicated on Monday that: ‘The three European countries cannot be allowed to undermine the credibility of the UN Security Council by abusing a resolution that they themselves have not respected,’ according to the Iranian Press Agency. « The three European countries (E3) have effectively lost their status as “participants” in the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) through their actions, including their political and material support for the recent illegal and unjustified military aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States; their violation of the fundamental principles of the JCPOA; and their continued failure to fulfill their obligations under the JCPOA, » has declared Abbas Araghtchi, Iranian Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs. ‘Therefore, any attempt on their part to reactivate the sanctions lifted by the Security Council resolution is null and void,’ he has added. He has rejected the European troika’s allegations about reactivating sanctions under the 2015 nuclear agreement. The Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a recent letter to the UN General Secretary, the President of the Security Council, the High Representative of the European Union and the members of the UN Security Council, has considered any attempt by the three European countries (E3) to reactivate sanctions against Iran to be invalid and legally null and void. According to the source, Abbas Araghchi has explained why the three European countries have no legal, political or moral legitimacy to activate the mechanisms for imposing sanctions lifted under the terms of the JCPOA and Security Council Resolution 2231 (approved in 2015).
