Israel-Gaza: ‘The spokesperson for Hamas’ armed wing has been eliminated’ (Israeli Minister in charge of Defence)

Kinshasa, August 31^st, 2025 (CPA).- The Israeli Minister in charge of Defence Israel Katz has said on Sunday that the spokesman for the armed wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas, Abu Obeida, had been eliminated in Gaza in an Israeli army strike, according to international media reports.  ‘The Hamas terrorist spokesman Abu Obeida has been eliminated in Gaza and has joined the others eliminated from the axis of evil of Iran, Lebanon and Yemen in the depths of hell,’ has declared Israel Katz, Israeli Minister in charge of Defence.  ‘Congratulations to the Israeli army and the Shin Bet [Israeli intelligence service, editor’s note] for this perfect execution,’ he has praised.  According to the same sources, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had confirmed earlier an army strike against the spokesman for Hamas’s armed wing. ‘We have carried out a strike against Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida,’ Benjamin Netanyahu has said. ‘I hope he is no longer with us, but I note that there is no one on the Hamas side to clarify this issue,’ he has added.  In a statement attributed to Abu Obeida by Hamas two days earlier, the spokesman for the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades had warned that the hostages faced the ‘same risks’ as his own fighters in the face of Israeli troops. The Israeli army is preparing to launch an offensive on Gaza City.  ‘We will take care of the prisoners (hostages, editor’s note) as best we can, and they will be with our fighters in the combat and clash zones, subject to the same risks and living conditions,’ he has said.  ‘For every captive killed by the aggression, we will publish his name, photo and proof of his death,’ he has added. The Hamas, against which Israel is at war in Gaza, has not immediately responded to this information.
